We read, rapped, and sang different versions of "The Three Little Pigs" this week. Check out the pictures of us creating a set acting out the story.
Arbor Day Farm Field Trip
We had a great time on our field trip to Arbor Day Farm. We took their "Bees, Blossoms, and Blooms" Tour. The "K" Kids represented our school well by using great manners and answering lots of questions. Our tour guide complimented them several times. Way to Go!!
Mrs. Wishy Washy
We had great fun this week with the story, Mrs. Wishy Washy. She loves to have her animals clean, and they keep jumping in the mud! We acted out the story, made puppets for retelling the story, and learned about quotation marks. We also learned facts about horses, chickens, and ducks.
We are learning about farms. We learned about machined used on farms, crops grown in Nebraska, and animals raised on farms. Mrs. Brockhaus grew up on a farm so we're heard lots of stories about growing up on the farm. We even wrote her dad a letter so that we could learn from a real farmer.
We were botanists this week. We studied all sorts of plants and their parts. We practiced observing the different parts of the plant and learned the functions of each part.
We are working on time in math and created the class book, Hickory Dickory Dock. Make sure that you view the video of the "K" Kids reading their story.
We spent the week doing some fun science experiments with eggs, reading about eggs and oviparus animals, and doing egg stations with our sixth grade buddies.
We sailed the high seas looking for treasure this week. After reading several pirate books, we created our own pirate ship center. While pirates were the bad guys of the oceans, we were just friendly pirates looking for lost treasure.
We have been on an Underwater Adventure the past couple of weeks. We put up waves and an ocean mural. Each day, we studied a different ocean animal and added it to our ocean.
Leprechauns on the Loose!
With St. Patrick's Day getting closer, we had some Leprechaun Mischief happening around our school!
We read about colors and learned about the primary colors. We had fun decorating our room with rainbows and making color books to share with our parents about Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Good Luck, Miss Townsend!
We'll Miss You...
March 1st, we had to say Good Bye to Miss Townsend. She's moving on to student teach in an infant and toddler setting. Miss Townsend gave us all flowers and thanked us for helping her grow. She promised to return for summer school.
Reading with our Stuffed Animals
To celebrate reading this month, the whole gang at Two Springs brought their stuffed animals to school for a fun reading time.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Preparing Valentine Boxes and celebrating Valentine's Day with our Parents. Thanks parents for a fun party!
The Dentist is IN!
This week was all about Dental Health. We read about taking care of our teeth, had a visit from a dental hygenist, and practiced all of our new knowledge at the Dentist Office Center.
Groundhog Day & Shadow Fun
We made Valentine projects and celebrated Groundhog Day in our classroom this week. We predicted whether the groundhog would see his shadow or not. 11 people predicted no shadow and 10 people predicted that he would see his shadow. We measured our shadows on the playground at 8:30 am, noon, and 2:30 pm on day. It was quite surprising to see how much our shadows change! We also made silhouettes/shadows of each of the "K" Kids. Click on the picture on the right to see all of our silhouettes and guess which one belongs to your favorite "K" Kid.
100 Day Celebration!
Mr. Kauk told us if we worked hard for 100 days in kindergarten, we could have a celebration. We definitely worked hard! To celebrate, we painted shirts, made crowns, and glasses. We decorated with 100 balloons made designs and puzzles from a 100's chart, read books with 100 things, and created 100 chicks for the story Wolf's Chicken Stew.
The "K" Kids each brought in 100 items in a small sack. They wrote 5 clues about their 100 things, and their friends guessed what they brought. Finally, we worked with our Sixth Grade Buddies to create collages.
Happy Birthday, Martin Luther King, Jr.
We celebrated Dr. King's birthday by reading several stories about his life and accomplishments. Throughout the week, we created a mural to show us working together all around the world. Finally, we wrote our 'dreams' to make the world a better place.

More Holiday Travels
This week brought more traveling on the Magic Holiday Bus. We learned about Sinterklaas in Holland. We returned to Germany and read several gingerbread stories. Some of them had sad endings for the gingerbread characters adn some of the stories had happy endings. Finally, we enjoyed the warmer weather of Mexico and learned about the legend of the poinsettia and made a class pinata...what great, messy fun!
Holidays Around the World
We started off by making holiday passports for our travels. Then we were off to Germany and France to learn about their holiday traditions. The Christmas tree, Advent calendar, and candy canes all originated in Germany. Christmas in France is Noel. We recognized the word Noel from the song, but we had no idea that it meant Christmas.
We have earned 750 CATS cards for good behavior so far this year so we earned time with Mr. Kauk. He came and did some music/dance time with us and then went to recess with us. We gave him a workout!
Our theme this week was Food and Nutrition. We spent one day learning about each food group. Monday we made fruit salad. Tuesday we cooked vegetable soup. Wednesday we made butter by shaking whipping cream. Thursday we baked bread and read about different breads all over the world. Friday we revisited the dairy group and made ice cream.
We learned about Families this week. We read Tar Beach and made a 'quilt' of all of our family memories. Thanks parents for sending in your memories of kindergarten. The "K" Kids really appreciated your honesty and humor. We found that you enjoyed some of the same things that we do in kindergarten, and some of you were even a little naughty!? Enjoy the photos of our family memories...

We meet with our sixth grade buddies once in every 8-day cycle. We use this opportunity to practice teamwork. We do a variety of activities including reading, math, science, and art.
Me & My New Friends
We spent the week learning how we are all unique and special. We also did lots of songs and activities with our friends' pictures and names.
Center Time Fun
Play is a child's work so we have center time daily in our classroom. We learn to role play what grown-ups do. We build and problem solve. We create. We take turns. We learn to share and compromise.
Our first week was "Bears". We brought our bears and stuffed animals to school. We read fiction and informational books about bears. On Friday, our bears got into a little mischief, and we had to go find them. This was a fun way to tour the school and find that there are lots of helpful adults in our building. We found the bears with Mr. Kauk having a little snack.
