End-of-Year Fun
Our last theme was "The Three Little Pigs". We also had bunches of end-of-year fun. There are pictures of our Celebration of Learning, our Ice Cream Party, and Field Day. Thanks for a great year, "K" Kids! I loved being your teacher! :)
Farm Animals
We learned about farm animals
and what they provide for us.
Plants
We spent the week learning about the different parts of a plant and the function of each. Ask your favorite "K" Kid to share the song that we learned. Enjoy the photos of our experiments and check back next week to see if our seeds sprouted and how are garden is growing!
Exciting Eggs
We read books about eggs, made our own egg book, did Egg Stations and 'egg'speriments, and cooked eggs this week. Click on the picture to the right and check it out!
Under the Sea
We are creating and "Under the Sea" atmosphere in our classroom. We have our ceiling covered with waves and 2 walls of our classroom decorated as an ocean mural. Each day we are reading about and creating a new animal for our ocean mural.
Ahoy, Matey!
Pirate Fun! We were friendly pirates, sharing our treasure and learning to read...especially a pirate's favorite words with 'ar'!
Leprechauns & Dr. Seuss
It was a super fun week in kindergarten with Dr. Seuss stories and leprechaun mischief. The "K" Kids were very motivated writers when looking for clues and keeping track of their investigations. Thanks parents for helping us get dressed up special each day!
Colors and Light
We learned about Colors & Light this week. We made rainbows and practiced mixing colors. We also started having a little leprechaun fun by making Leprechaun Stew. Legend says that if we can catch a leprechaun, he has to give us his gold. We made a team pact that if anyone caught a leprechaun, we would all share the gold! Go "K" Kids!
The Solar System
Who says kindergarten isn't rocket science!? We are learning about objects in the sky. We created a mural of the solar system on 2 walls of our classroom, and we built a space ship and control center to explore. If you plan to come and visit, make sure that you get the password from your favorite "K" Kid. We don't want any of the information from our space missions to fall into the wrong hands so we have a secret password each day.
Happy Valentine's Day
Thanks parents for a wonderful Valentine Party! We had a great time!
Happy Presidents Day!
We learned about past presidents, their pets, the White House, and Washington, DC. We also learned about coins and the presidents on each one. We made some great observations.
Dental Health
We celebrated Dental Health month this week. We learned about brushing, flossing, and eating right to keep our teeth strong and healthy. We also showed our school spirit with Crazy Hair Day on Friday.
Valentines, Groundhog Day, and Chinese New Year
We made Valentine things, learned about Groundhog Day and shadows and made some predictions, and finally we celebrated the Chinese New Year! Click on the picture on the left to see if you can find your "K" Kid's shadow!
Happy 100 Day!
We had an exciting and busy week with the number 100. 100 books, 100 ants, 100 words, 100 quiet seconds, 100 hidden pictures, 100 puzzles, 100 mystery pictures, and a visit from Zero the Hero!

It's Winter
We read fiction and non-fiction books about penguins. We're also building a class igloo for reading. Check out our progress. The best part of the week was melting ice cubes! Ask your favorite "K" Kid all about it.
Our Christmas Party!

Happy Thanksgiving from the "K" Pilgrims!
Foods & Nutrition
Food and Nutrition was a tasty and fun week. Monday we made fruit salad. Tuesday we made vegetable soup. Wednesday we made butter. Thursday we baked rolls, and Friday we made ice cream. With all of the delicious smells coming from our classroom, we had lots of visitors. We learned about the 'My Plate' plan. Now we know how to eat healthy.
Family Fun
Our families are special to us. We read the book, Tar Beach and created our own quilt of family memories. We also read books about moms and dads and made lists of things that our moms and dads do. Finally, we read about grandparents and made our own version of the book, Grandma, Grandma. We followed the book pattern. It was also fun learning about our parents' kindergarten experiences. Because many of you learned your letters in kindergarten with The Letter People, we watched a video of Miss Achoo. The "K" Kids decided that their videos today are better!
Human Body Week

Night Things
We learned about night things. We wear jammies at night so we had a pajama party complete with popcorn and bedtime stories. We read the story Roll Over and acted it out. We also read about nocturnal animals. We read fact and fiction books about these animals. You can view our latest class book on the Night photo page, too.
Wonderful Water & Amazing Air

Fire Safety
We learned lots of ways to be safe and prevent fires. We also learned ways to stay safe if there is a fire. We created a fire safety center to put all of our knowledge into practice.
Monkeying Around
Why are we all wearing hats?? We were acting out the story, Caps for Sale. We pretended that we were the monkeys and Mrs. Moneymaker was the peddler. We also made monkeys and a picture of "5 Little Monkeys Sitting in a Tree".
Fall Fun
We learned about the season of Fall...or as big kids say "Autumn". The highlight of our week was making scarecrows with our Sixth Grade Buddies.
Amazing Apples
Amazing Apples was a delicious theme! We measured, graphed, ordered, and patterned with apples. We read about the life cycle of an apple tree and painted apple trees. The best part was making applesauce and tasting it! It smelled delicious. We had lots of visitors come in and check out the wonderful smell of apples and cinnamon.

My Fabulous Five Senses
We learned about our Fabulous Five Senses! They keep us safe and help us learn. We explored with each one of our senses. We also read several informational books this week...We found that informational books can have facts, a table of contents, photos, bold words, a glossary, and an index. Help your favorite "K" Kid find some of these important book parts in non-fiction books that your read together.
Maps, Magnets, & Patterns
We learned about maps and the globe this week. Thanks parents for helping us practice our addresses. We also had some fun exploring with magnets. Ask your favorite "K "Kid if money is magnetic! We also started our topic on patterns in math.
Wonderful Watermelon
We practiced our letters, numbers and rhyming with watermelon this week.
Bears, Nursery Rhymes, & New Friends
We spent our first 2 weeks with the themes Bears, Nursery Rhymes, and New Friends. Enjoy the photos.
Summer School
We had a great first week of summer kindergaren! We are learning the ropes of 'big kid' school...the lunchroom, recess, centers, the computer lab, and making new friends. Our lessons centered around Eric Carle stories The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Very Lonely Firefly. We made a giant class caterpillar, painted caterpillars, created butterflies in their chrysalis, and made fireflies that really light up!
